Why I Use a Vitamix 5200
Why I use Vitamix for my blender is simple: power, capacity and a shatterproof container. This is a tool I could not live without. It will outperform and outlast any other blender and do more than a regular blender. Vitamix is the gold standard, a versatile machine.
I’ve had my model 5000 for more than twelve years and now have a new model 5200. The 5200 has nice upgrades to the older model like the ergonomic handle, lid flaps or “wings” and a BPA-free container.
What I Use My Vitamix 5200 For
Breakfast smoothies (every day), pureeing soups, pureeing cooked vegetables (like cauliflower), salad dressings (like Caesar and Green Goddess) and marinades in larger quantities, batters (like for pancakes), ice cream bases, and sauces. Here are a few recipes I use my Vitamix for:

Pros and Cons of the Vitamix 5200
I have only positive comments about the Vitamix. There’s nothing negative about it. One note – it is bigger than a standard blender with the large motor base and 2-quart container. Something to keep in mind for storage.
Cleaning a Vitamix 5200
It’s easy to clean. Rinse out the container and add a few drops of dish soap. Process to clean, rinse and dry.
Miscellaneous Notes
An extra tool I find handy is a long, thin silicone spatula. It helps get every last little bit out of the container. You’ll need to buy this separately at a kitchen store.
