If you are not familiar with The Daniel Plan, let me introduce you. The Daniel Plan is a comprehensive approach to living a healthier life based on balancing faith, food, fitness, focus and friends. Simply put, it is not a fad diet.

The Daniel Plan way of eating is about letting go of the bad foods that don’t serve us and embracing foods that are good – fresh, whole foods, lots of vegetables (mainly low starch), low sugar fruits, limited whole grains, healthy fats, nuts, seeds, and healthy, high quality proteins.

The Daniel Plan is also about eliminating junk food, fast food, processed foods, sugary drinks and sodas, and packaged foods that are often filled with artificial colors and flavors, damaging fats and sweeteners, and unhealthy additives. It’s about moving away from foods that harm towards foods that heal.

The Daniel Plan & My Recipes

As a Daniel Plan Signature Chef, my recipes categorized as such follow the principles of the New York Times bestselling book, The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life by Pastor Rick Warren, Dr. Mark Hyman, and Dr. Daniel Amen.

I was (and still am) blessed to be on The Daniel Plan team and developed many of the The Daniel Plan Cookbook recipes and content.

Since then I’ve also had the privilege of developing all of the recipes for Dr. Mark Hyman’s book, Eat Fat Get Thin.

Food is Medicine

Food is more than just nourishment and calories for energy; food is medicine. Changing what we eat is one of the most powerful tools we have to improve our lives and prevent or conquer chronic lifestyle diseases facing us today.

In order to eat healthy, we must learn to shop healthy, make smart choices, and of course, cook. To have a healthy relationship with food we must learn to cook. And with that in mind, you will find more than recipes on my website.

My Health Journey

If the Daniel Plan had existed years ago it would have made the journey to where I am today a lot faster and easier. Unfortunately, it didn’t. So I learned the hard way, through self-experimentation and education. You don’t have to.

Seventeen years ago I weighted some 35 more pounds more than I do today. I promised myself I would lose the weight and get back in shape. How many of us had that same conversation with ourselves? That promise went unanswered for almost a year. Then something snapped. I was sick of how I looked and felt, and how my clothes were fitting. I made the commitment to change.

Discovering Fitness

After discovering fitness and getting moving, the weight began to peel off. But something else started happening. My hair and nails were breaking off and my skin looked terrible. Friends asked if I was ok. That is when I began to understand the power of nutrition and healthy eating.

The Power of Nutrition

Taking a hard look at my diet, I realized I was not eating right to fuel my body. Learning that forever changed the way I looked at food. It started a new journey for me that brought me to where I am today – many years older, in great shape, and filled with energy and purpose.
