Black or Forbidden rice is a nutritious whole grain with incredible color. Look for it in bulk at markets like Whole Foods and online, from Lotus Foods. Cooks perfectly in 30 minutes. Dress it up with olive oil, sesame oil, salt, pepper, fresh herbs, whatever you have.
1cuporganic black rice
Place rice and water in a 2 quart saucepan. Bring to a boil. Cover tightly with a lid, turn to very low and cook slowly for 30 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to steam finish (lid on) for a few minutes, then fluff, season and serve.
