Hi, I'm Chef Sally Cameron, the professionally trained chef, Certified Health Coach, recipe developer, photographer, and publisher behind A Foodcentric Life.
Since 2011, I've shared fresh, seasonal recipes focused on real food for real life. My goal is simple: to help you cook healthy food that tastes terrific, works for your life, and brings people together at the table.
Because I cook gluten-free, every recipe on A Foodcentric Life is gluten-free or includes clear gluten-free guidance. Many are naturally gluten-free, and I often add notes for dairy-free, vegetarian, vegan, low-carb, and other dietary needs.

Our lives are food-centric because we've got to eat! Food as fuel, food for comfort, food to celebrate, to nourish and heal. It's in the kitchen that we come together and the best things in life happen.

What You'll Find on A Foodcentric Life
A Foodcentric Life is a resource for fresh, whole-food cooking with an emphasis on quality ingredients, practical techniques, and recipes you can trust.
Here you'll find:
- Chef-developed, well-tested recipes for everyday cooking and entertaining.
- Gluten-free recipes that work for everyone, not just those who need to eat gluten-free.
- Substitution and variation notes for different dietary needs.
- Chef's Tips to help you understand the "why" behind a recipe.
- Fresh seasonal meals, sauces, sides, salads, soups, desserts, and entertaining recipes.
I believe healthy cooking should never feel boring, restrictive, or complicated. Good food should nourish you, taste wonderful, and fit real life.
My Recipes and Focus
I've been a chef for more than 20 years, working as a personal chef, private chef, caterer, recipe developer, teacher, and food publisher, and yes, in a restaurant.
Over the years, I've cooked for busy executive families, professional athletes, well-known doctors, New York Times bestselling authors, and even a few world leaders. I've also taught thousands of people how to cook and eat healthier through classes, live events, and this website.
My professional background gives me a practical perspective: recipes need to taste great, work reliably, and be clear enough for home cooks to feel confident making them.

My professional background gives me a practical perspective: recipes need to taste great, work reliably, and be clear enough for home cooks to feel confident making them.

My Work
I was a signature chef for the New York Times million-copy bestseller The Daniel Plan: 40 Days to a Healthier Life. I also co-authored and developed recipes for The Daniel Plan Cookbook, The Daniel Plan Five Essentials video series, and Sony fitness video series.
I am also the chef behind the recipes for Dr. Mark Hyman's New York Times bestselling book Eat Fat, Get Thin, and I've written about healthy cooking and living for Brio Magazine.

Professional Training
My culinary training was through the Art Institute's International Culinary Program. I received my Certified Health Coach certification from the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and am trained in juicing through the Juice Guru program. I am also food safety certified through ServSafe.
My Gluten-Free Journey
My gluten-free journey began after I was diagnosed with non-celiac gluten sensitivity more than a dozen years ago. At the same time, many of my private chef clients needed recipes for gluten-free and other specialty diets, so I began developing recipes that were both health-supportive and full of flavor.
That experience shaped the way I cook and teach today. Every recipe needs to be delicious first, then adaptable where possible.
How My Recipes Are Developed
Every recipe on A Foodcentric Life is created with real home cooks in mind. I test recipes carefully, explain important steps, and include practical notes so you understand how and why a recipe works.
You'll often find tips on ingredient swaps, make-ahead options, storage, reheating, serving ideas, and ways to adjust recipes for different dietary needs.
My goal is to help you get dependable, delicious food on the table with confidence.
A Little More About Me
I live in sunny Orange County, California, with my husband, Kent, who is one of my best taste testers. I've loved cooking since I was young, starting in the kitchen with my mom and later flipping burgers at a Newport Beach burger joint before I could drive.
Food has always been central to my life. It fuels us, comforts us, helps us celebrate, and brings us together. Around here, life really is truly food-centric.

My Recipes and Focus
When you're a trained chef, people always ask "what's your speciality?". While it's special diets, don't let that deter you. My recipes work for everyone, not just those with special dietary needs.

My Experience
In my two decades years working as a personal chef, private chef, caterer, recipe developer, and publisher, I've worked with and cooked for famous doctors and NYT best-selling authors, professional athletes, and busy executive families, even a few world leaders. I've taught thousands to eat healthier on stage, in classes, and in this space.
Not bad for a California girl who started flipping burgers at a Newport Beach burger joint before I could drive, and thanks to my mom who really got me started in the kitchen.

My Journey
Health challenges drove me to experiment and change my diet, but the years I cooked professionally many of my clients needed special diets too. That doesn't mean boring or tasteless food. It's the opposite! Food is the best medicine.
I lost weight, detoxed from heavy metals, Lyme and mold, learned to manage histamine intolerance (HIT) and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS), and recovered from gut dysbiosis. It's amazing what food can do!
I live in Orange County, California, with my husband, Kent. Along with my wonderful neighbors, he is a terrific taste tester!
